How to Make Natural Beard Oil Recipes
Jojoba oil is the main carrier oil for this DIY beard oil. I use 50% as the main part. Coconut oil and grapeseed oil are the remaining carrier oils I usually only use unrefined coconut oils in cooking and in my handmade soaps that I sell on Amazon.
Here is one of those rare times I use fractionated coconut oil. Basically, it stays in liquid form even when it gets cold. The remaining 25% is pure grapeseed oil. Leave a small space at the top of the bottle to add Vitamin E oil and essential oils.
Have a DIY Party
First of all, you will be able to make quick and easy beard oil for your man or men in your life. Also, this is an easy and fun way to get children involved in making gifts for their dad, pop-pop, uncle, or older brother. Finally, the recipient will love it because you specifically made it.

Choose the Best Ingredients for Making Beard Oil
Use the purest essential oils and stay away from “fragrance oils”, they are full of chemicals and are not good for the body. Tea Tree oil is excellent to use in skincare products. Check out Tea Tree Oil Uses and Benefits for an in-depth post on the benefits and proper uses.
Listed in my free DIY eBook are a few combinations of scents that I have had great feedback on. (See the end of this post to get your copy delivered to your inbox). Only a few drops of essential oils are needed for this recipe. For example, if you are using one ounce of carrier oils then 15-20 drops of essential oils would be a good starting point. Try adding a few different essential oils to create your own scent.
Beard Balm Ingredients
- Beeswax-3/4 cup (52 grams or 1.85 ounces)
- Shea butter-1/2 cup (102 grams or 3.6 ounces)
- Cocoa butter-less than a 1/3 cup-more or less (31 grams or 1.10 ounces)
- Jojoba oil-3 tablespoons (44.4 mL or 1.5 ounces)
- Grapeseed oil-3 tablespoons (44.4 mL or 1.5 ounces)
- Cold-pressed solid coconut oil-1 tablespoon
- 12 drops patchouli essential oil
- 12 drops cedarwood essential oil
- 4 drops fir needle essential oil
- 14 drops rosemary essential oil
This will make approximately 9.10 ounces or around 258 grams before the essential oils. Have enough containers or vessels ready for the mixture is melted. You can even take this recipe and cut it in half, very easy, very forgiving.
Directions to Make Beard Balm
- Melt ingredients to a liquid state by your preferred method
- Heat slowly
- Give it a stir
- Once melted, work fast
- The beeswax will start hardening, especially when your room is cold
- Fill enough containers to fill the 9.10 ounces of balm you just made

THIS BALM IS EXCELLENT FOR MEN OR WOMEN’S CUTICLES DURING THE WINTER MONTHS!!!

Label the Ingredients for Beard Balm and Beard Oil
Don’t forget to make a label, and it’s very important, especially if you don’t know if the recipient is allergic to anything. Make sure you put it even in a card or a label to what ingredients are in the beard balm, in case they have any allergic reaction. Also, advise them to do a little patch test on the palm of their hand; wait a few hours to see if they have any reaction.
Some people are allergic to essential oils, tea tree, grape seed. It could be anything; it is best to always give gifts with what the ingredients are in them. Note to store in a cool and dry place.

The Best Carrier Oils for Beards
- Jojoba oil is an all-natural oil that aids in the prevention of the beard’s split-ends, dandruff control and increases beard growth.
- Coconut oil has many great benefits as Jojoba oil does. It’s full of minerals, vitamins, and other antioxidant properties. Also, it stimulates beard growth, improves brittleness, and lessens skin irritation.
- Grapeseed oil is just as beneficial as the other two carrier oils. Grapeseed oil antioxidants block those nasty blockers that cause hair loss. Furthermore, grapeseed oil helps in moistening the skin to prevent dandruff and flaking. The natural vitamin E content in the oil helps build the hair tissue and actually promotes hair growth.
- Hempseed oil has high mineral abilities such as iron, calcium, potassium. Hemp seed oil is high in fatty acids that are essential such as omega 3 and omega 6.
- Others you may try:
- Black seed oil
- Castor oil
- Argan oil
- Avocado
- Almond

Moonshine Splash Body Spray Recipe
Make a quick and easy moonshine splash; it’s a body spray. You can use it on your face, after you shave, even on your legs. Use it as a coolant in the summer. Use a good moonshine, white lightning, or you can get it from a farmer who even has a stronger type.
- 4-ounce UV spray glass bottle
- Fill mostly to the top-leave room for the essential oils
- 10 drops Blood orange essential oil
- 10-15 drops Spearmint essential oil
- Give a good shake
- Store in the refrigerator for a cool spray
- Or store in a cool dark place
Add a gift card, include the ingredients and advise to keep out of the reach of children.
Directions for Using Beard Balm and Beard Oils
Massage a few drops of handmade beard oil into the beard and skin. Let it penetrate for 30 minutes or even over-night if possible. After a warm shower is a good time to add a few drops of beard oil into the beard; the hair can absorb the oil more readily.

In Conclusion, Fun Tidbit
Jojoba pronounced (ho-ho-ba) fitting for Christmas-ho ho 🙂 Jojoba oil is actually a wax from the Jojoba plant, similar to the oil in our scalp which is naturally produced. It hydrates the beard and works to add softness to the beard. Read what Wiki says about Jojoba oil’s history and uses.

Man cub-lol that’s cute! As you know, these recipes are so easy and adaptable. Thank you so much for sharing a comment Amy, I appreciate that 🙂
Moonshine is so good for so many things, (I do not drink it, it’s not to my liking), mama taught me never to say the word “hate” lol. You’re always welcome when I lived in upstate NY, we would have been much closer to the border 🙂 Thanks so much for your kind words Sylvia :>
It’s a good cuticle conditioner too, just change the essential oils to lavender 🙂 thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment!
WOW – really great information. Thank you. I might make this for my husband when he decides to go rustic! 😀
Well then, I just learned I’ve been pronouncing jojoba wrong for years! Oops! Now, where can I find myself some moonshine? I think I’ll be hardpressed where I live, so don’t mind me, I’m just going to pop on over to your place real quick. They won’t stop me at the border if I tell them I’m bringing back moonshine, will they? Loved your post, Jersey! I always learn so much from you <3
I make a beard oil for my man cub. I always love to see what others do and I always learn something new from you, Jersey. Thank you! <3
